These works were created in Johanna Furst Studios in Lambertville, New Jersey, starting in 2023. By taking an abstract oil painting class, I learned that Johanna was an inspirational teacher and signed on to her oil painting classes. My painting career started while attending the Art Institute of Art. My career took me off into other endeavors, such as communications and web development, I promised myself that I would get back to it someday. Two paintings below were painted in 2007 while obtaining a BA in Visuals Communications from SUNY. Taking up painting with Johanna has elevated my paintings to the next level. For me, painting in oils has dissipated a lifelong battle with anxiety. Painting again has been therapeutic. It is documented that enacting the creative brain can bring on a calming effect (Your Brain On Art, 2003). This is the culmination of my paintings.
