Antimatters Films black graphic with pink and orange shapes

Antimatters Films is a series of experimental films produced by Georgie Chalker’s “created self” in the early 2000s. At that time, smart phones and handheld cameras were being introduced onto the global market. In 2006, Georgie bought her first JVC handheld video camera and immediately started to shoot. It is the only way to approach getting started.

In 2007, she returned back to school to complete a degree in visual communications; majoring in film analysis. Video work is very complex: starting with structuring the scripts, visualizing the scenes,  collaborating with your subjects, and then the ever time-consuming video editing. We all hope that this will improved with the next set of editing software.

These films are a labor of love. They are a reflection of what was happening in the world of an artist, who was learning the capabilities of her camera, in the location where she was shooting.

The latest film “The Now of Change” was filmed during the pandemic. To say the least, we all had a lot of time on our hands and a need to focus on something other than ourselves. We were living in a world of panic and fear. Little did we that the country was about to go threw an epiphany with the murder of George Floyd.

The contract between extreme isolation and constructiveness to “Black Lives Matter” was the exact medicine needed. Hopefully, we can now look back with sympathy for the unknown and the highly charged emotions we were experiencing.

THE NOW OF CHANGE: EMERGING FROM THE NUMBNESS

Writing by Georgie Chalker (http://antimattersfilms.com) and Brian Tucker (https://ecozoic.live)

A film dedicated to those who died during the Covid-19 Pandemic and “The Black Lives Matters” movement who have changed our world forever.  There is an appreciation for those who survived and who became better people because of the hardships; and a deep sorrow for the dead who taught us more.

The present moment has deep significance to life on Earth. The planet can no longer sustain the past era of consumption and destruction. We know that visionaries, alive and deceased, have envisioned a better way to hold our planet sacred. And Covid taught us that we can change drastically. It also has given us an opportunity to pause and listen to the wailings, not only of the dying, but of the chaos on the planet. It will be creativity, innovation, and diversity that will free our minds from the past. Yet, it will be love that will give us a new identity in order to save our own existence. This is the Now of Change!

The Journey: What started as a discussion about change in the weeks before the Covid pandemic, culminated into a rapid journey through adaptability. We discovered that rapid change was about to come to us. That’s what is documented in this film. What remains now is an urgent sense that change needs to continue. If humans are to evolve and save our planet, we need to take on #OurNewIdentity
